My astrology sign is Cancer, why did they pick that name?

I see alot of cool shirts with astrology signs, but I don't really like to wear one that saids Cancer. Why can't they change it? It would be like another astrology sign if they called it tumor.

Cancer is the name of the constellation said to resemble a crab. It is on the horizon at dawn in late June and early July, so it's said to be the sign for that time period. It has nothing directly to do with the illness by the same name.

i mean, is that horoscope or astrology or what? what exact science is that?

Neither are a science. Science involves testing that can be repeated by anyone. Astrology fails to do better than chance. The last thing it can be called is consistent.

I am a retired university instructor and psychotherapist. Astrology and metaphysics are highly unregulated fields. Therefore a lot of phonies offer fear and flattery to clients instead of valid insights. In a scenario set up to debunk astrology, Jeffrey Armstrong completely outshines Michael Shermer in a way that any scientist should say is “statistically interesting.”

The SCENARIO: Jeffrey reads NINE charts in about TWENTY minutes. Most charts are usually given an hour of study each. EXPERIMENT I: face-to-face reading with a skeptic. The subject, afterwards, said Jeffrey’s reading “officially blew me away.” EXPERIMENT II: Nine “blind” readings. Results: 105 of 137—or 77%—of Jeffrey’s statements deemed accurate, ALL scores 63% or over, high of 89%. EXPERIMENT III: The kicker. Two of the nine, unbeknownst to Jeffrey or the subjects, have their charts switched. Accuracy rating drops to 38 and 21% respectively. Switched back to true charts, accuracy goes to 94 and 92%.

In Chinese astrology people born in the year 1983 is a Dog or a Pig?

In some Chinese astrology calenders (in internet and in print) people born in the year 1983 are considered to have the Dog symbol and some Chinese astrology calenders people born in the year 1983 are considered to have the Pig symbol.
Which one is originally correct?

Depends on when in 1983 you were born.

People born before 13 February 1983 are born under Water Dog sign.
People born 13 February 1983 or later are born under Water Pig sign.

Why is it in Vedic Astrology my Moon is in Pisces but in Western astrology it’s in Aries?

I have the same Ascendant sign in scorpio in both charts,but western astrology it says my sun sign is in 21 degrees in cancer,but in vedic its in 29 degrees in gemini.Could anyone explain this?Which is more true?

Indian astrology is based on the standard base
that is called nirayana
westrend astrology based on moving zodiac that is called sayana
the sayana means sa+ ayna = sayana
in the meaning in sanskrit sa means with nir means without
so Indian or vedic astrology uses fixed base
westren uses moving base
for these two there will be difference of 21/22 days so you will get this difference
for example normally we have makara sankranthi on jan 14/15
let as add december 31 days
we call it and continue as december only now we have december
31+14= 45 days in this minus 23 days we will get dec 22 by westren system dec 22 is the starting point of starting the makara sankramana
and in vedic astrology that is jan 14
the same thing happen in your case
your moon in vedic astrology it is in pisces and westrend it is Aries
so you have doubt which one to follow
check your self if you are rich in emotions and understand others well
you have more qualities borrowed by pisces
if you are dynamich you have least concern about others and want dominate others is the qualities of Ariie
you are the final judge

How does Chinese Astrology work with the elements????

Okay in regular astrology I am a Capricorn and all other Capricorns like me are earth signs but in Chinese astrology my mom and my grandpa are both snakes but they have different elements! Why????

Because they were born a different year.
Each year the element changes even if it is the same sign as twelve years ago, it's still a different element.
