Now that Pluto has been demoted in our solar system?

Posted by admin on Oct 15, 2008

Since it's discovery in 1930, Pluto has been the baby of our solar system. Now that it is no longer a "planet" what is the going to do to the school books, the teachings in elementary schools and do you think it's demotion is going to impact or change astrology forecasts?

We need to add a new classification to define the "dwarfs" planets. Science is always in motion. The truth of today can be partially or total false tomorrow.
Anyway sounds like another justification to change the books at the schools. Poor fathers, they can't buy used books anymore!

Question for Astrology Buffs……?

Posted by admin on Oct 14, 2008

Has anyone out there ever read Rob Brezhny? He's an astrologer based out of Santa Cruz, CA and is syndicated in many newspapers throught the U.S. I was a skeptic about Astrology until my girlfriend turned me on to him a couple years ago. I swear, that guy hits my forecast dead-on accurate about 80% of the time. Does anyone else enjoy his stuff and think he is good?

Oh yes, Rob Brezsny (correct spelling) has been around for a few decades now and is well known in the professional astrological community.

His original weekly columns in "alternative" publications have quite a large following among the educated, literate and initiated. As one of the few astrologers he has read (some) Thomas Pynchon.

Rob has his own WebSite and building a MySpace page. Check it out and have fun!

What do you think of Jonathan Cainers forecasts ?

Posted by admin on Oct 13, 2008

Jonathan Cainers astrology forecasts are known to be Spookily Accurate. Do you agree?

He has the right tone when writing mine. Meaning = as he understands the character of my star sign, i've found he's tempered the answers to suit my character type, so they're quite flattering but sensible, and fun. I don't know if he does this to all star signs as I only read my own.

According to Astrology there are only 12 types of people in the world?

Posted by admin on Oct 12, 2008

I don't understand how this (practice, following, religion? whatever you call it) works. For example my friend is a Gemini just like me. That means we both have the same horoscope every day. So whenever he finds love, I find love. He gets a promotion, I get a promotion. He takes a loss, I take a losss. Not only do him and I share the same forecasts, but 10s of millions of Geminis across the world as well are subject to the same "destinys" on the same day. That seems a bit far-fetched to me. It also seems a bit ridiculous for the guy who made up astrology to categorize billions of people into 12 sets. So there are only 12 different kinds of people in the world? It seems to be the mindset anyway, when I read people asking questions here like "Does anyone here hate snobby Libras?". To me, the mindset that follows almost breeds a sub-type of racism where people are labeled and stereotyped. I apologize if my question lacks education on this subject. Does anyone else see this?

Don't forget the "cusps" meaning some "share" two signs. That makes 24 different types of people. Also there is the 13th sign (Ophiuchus) most ignore but is there.
Astrology does show a type of bigotry. Is it right to prejudge a person due to birthdate? We do not have any control of when we are born. But there are people that think they can without ANY science or statistics to back up their claim.

There are those who defend astrology by pointing out how accurate professional horoscopes are. Astrology “works,” it is said, but what does that mean? Basically, to say astrology works means that there are a lot of satisfied customers and one can shoehorn any event to fit a chart. It does not mean that astrology is accurate in predicting human behavior or events to a degree significantly greater than mere chance. There are many satisfied customers who believe that their horoscope accurately describes them and that their astrologer has given them good advice. Such evidence does not prove astrology so much as it demonstrates the Forer effect, and confirmation bias. Good astrologers give good advice, but that does not validate astrology. There have been several studies that have shown that people will use selective thinking to make any chart they are given fit their preconceived notions about themselves and their charts. Many of the claims made about signs and personalities are vague and would fit many people under many different signs. Even professional astrologers, most of whom have nothing but disdain for sun sign astrology, can’t pick out a correct horoscope reading at better than a chance rate. Yet, astrology continues to maintain its popularity, despite the fact that there is scarcely a shred of scientific evidence in its favor.

Astology is not science, it is magical thinking. Learn to embrace reality.
