How has astrology effectively helped you and if it has not favoured you, how has it hindered you?

Effective can be a result of as an example: made you aware of one’s character, how to better yourself etc.
Hindered can be a result of as an example: readings by those unexperienced or off guard that revealed unaccurate, using this tool to the every choice and way of your daily living such as: daily forecasts, personal readings occassionally etc.
Silly JC, I am also a Piscean, but then so is Osama bin Laden, no two people on this planet could be further appart in any way whatsoever.
Craig, I like your link very much and will keep it for future reference, it's reassuring to see someone else on this forum that treats this nonsense with equal contempt.
I've had four Q/As removed because of my views, because of the small mindedness of some believers in this Flim Flam.
So in answer to the original question, astrology has helped me in my understanding of the 'Barnum' effect, there's a sucker born every minute'
I started my first real job in state goverment when the Transiting Sun was conjunct my Ascendant; Truly set me on my legal path as a new beginning; Last month my Lunar return was Sun in 2nd house of finances and 10th of career; At the beginning of my new lunar return; I utilized that last month preparing for my review and got a bigger raise than I expected to get. Also about 4 of my family members all died when the sun was 6 Degrees Gemini; That must be a family exit point. Just too many coincidneces to just shrug this astrology off totally, I can see the moon and the Sun, I know they are there!

Well, it helped with one really stressful aspect in my chart. Sun square moon. When I was little, I either used to be outgoing and crazy or shy and quiet. It was crazy. It got so bad at one point that I didn’t really know who I was. Then, I got into astrology and started understanding it. It really helped me. At least now, I know that I’m not a crazy, bi-polar lunatic. The square really is difficult at times. But none the less powerful. There’s nothing more character-developing that a hard, huge square in some one’s chart. It makes me feel powerful knowing that I can overcome it.
So, I guess, all-in-all, that it helped find myself (emotionally), and raised my self-confidence.

NO statistically valid study has ever shown ANY connection, relation or correlation that would give ANY support to ANY part of astrology. There is no scientific question, there is no scientific controversy, concerning astrology — it definitely does NOT work.

Most of the time I just read my daily scope or forecast for fun/humor…see what is a coincidence by chance (rarely if ever find one that is dead on). However I will say that w/ relationships and zodiac compatibility either its one big coincidence or there are many similarities. In the past, it has helped me avoid bad relationships/incompatibilities and at times opened my eyes as to why certain relationships didn’t work out or would not have worked out.

I believe that it has helped me tremendously by letting me understand myself more. As a Pisces, I read about the strengths and weaknesses that I should have. I strive to empower my strengths such as artistry and compassion. As for my weaknesses, I try to eliminate them. Escapist my foot.
My self-awareness was only broadened once I knew about my Virgo Moon. It explained why I’m much more cerebral than other Pisces. I’m now in the process of understanding other aspects of my chart especially my Taurus Rising.
I don’t believe in Horoscopes.

Hopefully it has helped rather than hindered – lol! For me, some of what my chart refers to as the positives and negatives of my birth chart have been kind of like a slap in the face….you can really see those flaws when you are forced to hold up a magnified mirror to yourself now can’t you!

And yes, for me they were right on…sadly…but I have worked (sometimes slowly – lol) to overcome some of them and work and put a bit more emphasis on what I consider to be positive aspects and/or qualities about myself…as for the ones I haven’t made my way to yet (LOL), I have accepted them for now, until a later date when I may be more able and better prepared to deal with them…lol…just like my user name says ‘alwaysmoving4ward’….I do my best not to revert or go backwards in life…find the lessons that life has to teach us and learn from them as best you can – keep on going to the next!
There are also things suggested in my chart that I don’t necessarily agree with and do my best to rebel against it just to prove it wrong…lol…very few things though…lol!

I like to take control of my own life. To have a made-up, ancient, unproved, and bigoted concept make my life choices is not rational.
Nobody knows me better than me.
Astrology gets no credit or blame from me. Free will makes it pointless.

Astrology has led me towards an increased feeling of self-worth, as no matter what else occurs in my life, I know I’ll always be more mentally stable than the kind of muppet who believes that planetary bodies and balls of burning gas affect their own personal life in any way or form.

Astrology gives you guidance in life to make the right decisions. It is important to check the credentials of the source before trusting the interpretation.
